Something I’ve found that makes my day little bit (actually, a lot) greener is gardening. I have a ton of indoor plants, but this is the first year I’ve had outdoor space at my apartment. And I took full advantage of it Saturday and moved plants outside—including the ones that had been taking up my entire kitchen counter for about a month.

This is my Russian tortoise, Darwin. I’ve had him for ten years, and I’m not sure he’s ever been outside. I won’t just leave him out there unsupervised or anything, but he seemed to really enjoy his time in the sunshine and fresh air, munching on clover and just chilling.

And this is my garden bed. Herbs and strawberries in the planters. All of the flowers were chosen to attract bees and butterflies. I also have tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash planted. I just need to get okra plants and another squash or zucchini. I also have more tomatoes, lettuce, kale, and spinach planted in some planters.
I’ve found that I really enjoy spending time outside working on my little garden area. Even if the day or week was stressful. this makes me so happy! If you need a bit of joy in your life, maybe get a plant or two. It’ll make your world a little bit greener.
